Dhiren is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with more than 20 years of post-admission experience.
He has significant experience in transactional and general corporate, commercial and securities work (both cross-border and domestic), which includes advising on mergers, acquisitions, disposals, capital raisings, joint ventures, supply agreements, empowerment transactions, company formation and outsourcing.
His recent experience includes advising Phembani, a leading BEE investment holding company, on a BEE refinancing transaction and on the disposal of several coal sector assets; conducting an inquiry on behalf of Eskom into the appointment of the chairman of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund; representing Air Traffic Navigation Services in connection with its acquisition of radar surveillance systems; advising on the debt restructuring of finance raised in connection with the acquisition of Chubb Security (now National Fire and Security); advising a Educor, a private education business, on its restructuring and proposed dual listing in London and Johannesburg; advising Homii on the debt and equity financing by the PIC of a property investment company operating in the residential accommodation sector; and advising Barberry, a rail sector client, on the raising of debt and equity funding from the IDC for a brownfield transport infrastructure project.
Dhiren has been recognised by Best Lawyers in the Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions practice areas every year since 2012.
He has a B.Proc, LLB (Cum Laude) from the University of Natal.
