Jeremy Phillips specialises in employment and labour law, acting for various trade unions, individual employees, as well as state and public entities. He regularly appears in disciplinary hearings, bargaining councils, the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, the Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court. He has also litigated in the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court. Several of the cases in which Jeremy has been involved have been reported in the law reports.

Jeremy regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals, including the South African Law Journal, the Industrial Law Journal, and the South African Journal on Human Rights. His contributions span the fields of labour law, property and eviction law, and constitutional law. He has also published two chapters in different commentaries on labour law, and has presented papers at numerous conferences, and guest-lectured in postgraduate university courses.

Jeremy completed a Bachelor of Arts (2016) and Bachelor of Laws (2019) at the University of Cape Town. He completed a Master of Laws at the University of Fort Hare (2021) as a Mandela Rhodes scholar.
