Karien Norval is the Operations Director of the firm. She specialises in constitutional and administrative law with a focus on public sector law. She has litigated extensively in media, constitutional and administrative law in the High Court, the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court.

Karien has advised, and litigated on behalf of, a wide range of public and private sector clients, including major public entities, statutory bodies, and non-governmental organisations, in all of the above practice areas.

Karien is recognised by Best Lawyers, an independent international ranking agency for the legal industry, for her expertise in Media Law and Administrative & Public Law.

She received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1982 and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1986, both from the University of Stellenbosch. She completed a certificate in Commercial Mediation at the University of Cape Town in 2018.
